About

Agassiz is a historic, non-operational ski area in Manitoba, Canada. Ski operations are not active. Mount Agassiz was a ski resort in Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba, that opened in 1961 and hosted alpine events of the 1979 Canada Winter Games. It closed and its owners filed for bankruptcy in 2000, in part due to warm winters and competition from Asessippi Ski Resort; Parks Canada removed most buildings in 2015 and the site is being returned to natural habitat.
