About
Alagna Valsesia is the Piedmont gateway to the Monterosa Ski area, set below the Monte Rosa massif at the head of the Valsesia. Lifts run from the village at around 1,200 meters up to Punta Indren at 3,275 meters, but the marked pistes are almost beside the point here. The off-piste is the reason people come: long, steep glacier descents that drop close to 2,000 meters to the valley floor, which made Alagna one of the original homes of European freeriding.
