About
Awakino is a club ski area in the St Marys Range above the Waitaki Valley, on New Zealand's North Otago and Canterbury border, run by volunteers of the Waitaki Ski Club. Two main rope tows and a short learner tow serve about 430 metres of vertical and roughly 5 kilometres of slopes, little changed since the late 1940s. Easy backcountry access draws skiers chasing untracked snow.
