About
Beef Trail is a historic, non-operational ski area in Montana, United States. Ski operations are not active. Beef Trail was a pioneering volunteer-built ski area south of Butte, Montana, created by the Butte Ski Club and opened in 1939 with a rope tow powered by a Model A Ford engine. It operated until 1988, closing amid rising insurance costs and competition from larger resorts; after its 1990 sale the Butte Ski Club Charitable Foundation now funds school ski trips to Discovery Basin.
