About
Mount Hiei Artificial Skiing (比叡山人工スキー場) is a historic, non-operational ski area in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Ski operations are not active. Mount Hiei Artificial Ski Area was a former artificial-surface and snow-making ski area on the northwest slope of Mt Hiei in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, Japan. It opened in 1964 and offered grass and plastic-surface skiing in summer; warm winters and falling attendance ended summer use in 2000 and the area closed after the 2001 winter season, with the grassy slope now part of the Kyoto Circuit hiking and cycling trail.
