Shahdag is Azerbaijan's largest ski resort, built in the Greater Caucasus near Gusar and opened to the public in 2012. It offers about 45 km of slopes and 37 marked runs served by 20 lifts, with a vertical drop of 1,117 m between 1,435 m and 2,552 m. Three gondolas, snowmaking, night skiing and on-mountain hotels make it a self-contained base far from any established alpine network.
