About

Spielberg is a closed ski lift at Obernhausen, near Gersfeld in the Rhön, beside federal road B284. In 1954 Karl Barthelmes opened Hesse's first ski lift here, a 250 m tow driven by an old jeep diesel engine that climbed from about 700 to 750 m. The lift has not run for many years, but it marks the start of skiing in the Rhön.
