About
Valfréjus is a French ski area in the Maurienne valley above Modane, founded in 1983 and built mostly above the treeline. Nine lifts serve about 70 kilometres of pistes that climb from 1,550 metres at Le Charmaix to 2,737 metres at Punta Bagna, a vertical of roughly 1,190 metres. It is the birthplace of speed riding, the ski-and-glider hybrid pioneered here in 2001, with the first speed riding school founded on site.
