Newbreak (Nubes)

Newbreak, or Nubes, lies nestled along the southern edge of Sunset Cliffs in San Diego County, California. This right-hand reef break, characterized by its sharp coral and rocky bottom, comes alive at low tide during falling swells, working best when the surf reaches 1.0 to 1.5 meters but capable of holding up to 4 meters. The waves are of normal quality, breaking into a small cove that also showcases a playful left called Chasms on the opposite side. Accessible via a bit of a trek down rugged paths or a rope descent, this hidden gem rewards the adventurous with its wild beauty and uncrowded waters.
