About
Restaurants breaks a short paddle off Tavarua Island, named for the resort eatery it peels in front of. It is a fast, hollow left over shallow live coral, and many surfers who have ridden both rate it above nearby Cloudbreak. The wave works on all tides but comes into its own on a rising tide with a southwest swell and the southeast trades blowing offshore from the east-southeast. The reef is shallow enough to draw blood, and rips run hard through the channel.
