About

James Park is a historic, non-operational ski area in Illinois, United States. Ski operations are not active. James Park in Evanston, Illinois, is home to Mount Trashmore, a roughly 65-foot hill built on a closed landfill and converted to parkland in the 1960s. The city installed a rope tow and snowmaking and allowed skiing on the hill starting in 1973, but skiing was banned in the early 1980s; the mound remains a public park used for sledding, hiking and recreation.
