About
Akakura Onsen is a ski area in the Myoko Kogen region of Niigata, wrapped around a hot-spring village that dates to the 1930s. It runs 17 courses and 21 lifts down a lift-served vertical of about 550 meters, between roughly 690 and 1,490 meters of elevation, fed by Myoko's heavy snowfall of around 13 meters a year. It is the one resort in the Myoko area with night skiing, lit on the Kumado slopes most evenings of the season.
