About
Elk Mountain rises above Union Dale in the Endless Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, about 30 miles north of Scranton. Twenty-seven trails spread over 180 acres and 925 feet of vertical, and 11 of them are rated black diamond, a high share for the state. Joe Moore bought a third of the place when it opened in 1959, owned all of it by 1992, and ran it until he died in 2024 at 97; his family still does.
