Montage Mountain is a ski area on the ridge above Scranton, Pennsylvania, about eight miles from downtown. Its 1,000-foot vertical is tied for third-highest in the state, and nine lifts serve 140 acres with snowmaking and lights on every trail. The expert run White Lightning is rated the second steepest trail in the eastern United States; the area opened in 1984 and spent 2006 to 2013 as Sno Mountain.
