The Paradise is CAPiTA's softer, more affordable women's all-mountain board. Riders often weigh it against the CAPiTA Birds of a Feather and the YES Basic when they buy their first board.
This review covers how it rides, how it compares with the Birds of a Feather and who should choose something stiffer.
What It Is: A Soft, Playful Women's Board
The Paradise is a directional twin. The nose and tail look alike, but the stance is set back half an inch to help in soft snow. It uses a hybrid camber profile with camber between the feet and rocker toward the tips.
CAPiTA rates the flex at 5 out of 10, a little softer than the Birds of a Feather. One rider who owns both boards and the men's version said the Paradise base is extruded. An extruded base is easy to repair but slower than a sintered base.
On the Snow: Playful and Forgiving
Riders describe the Paradise as easy and fun. One rider said their girlfriend loves hers for days when she just wants to play on the mountain, hit side hits and have a blast.
Newer riders often prefer it. One rider said their girlfriend demoed the Paradise, the Birds of a Feather and the YES Basic after about 10 days of riding. She preferred the Paradise by far and found the Birds of a Feather too aggressive.
A rider in Colorado who owns both CAPiTA boards said they love the Paradise in the spring when the snow softens up.
Where It Excels
The Paradise shines for beginners and early intermediate riders. It suits riders who want a forgiving board for side hits, small jumps and relaxed days on the groomers.
Another rider said their girlfriend loved it most of the boards she tried at a demo day.
Where It Falls Short
Stronger riders may outgrow it. One rider said the Birds of a Feather is a great board to move up to in a couple of seasons.
It also has less bite on hard snow. The Colorado rider chose the Birds of a Feather for hard early-season snow and the Paradise for soft spring snow. Another rider said the Birds of a Feather has more camber, so it should bite better when turning on ice.
The "Buy for Now or Later?" Question
You'll find this question in most Paradise threads. Some riders say to buy the Paradise and enjoy it now. Others say early intermediate riders progress fast, so you may as well buy the board you will grow into.
Here's the take from riders: if you have only a few days on snow, the Paradise will feel easier. If you are already linking turns on blue runs and want to learn park and switch, the Birds of a Feather will last longer.
Pro tip: Check your binding size against the board's width. One rider found medium bindings stuck out past the edges of a short Paradise.
Who Should Buy It
Buy the Paradise if you are a beginner or early intermediate rider who wants a soft, playful board for relaxed days, side hits and spring snow.
Look elsewhere if you ride fast, ride lots of ice or are already progressing quickly.
